Weeks are getting better! Still going extremely fast but they are getting better as I am getting more comfortable with missionary life! This week's letter will be a little choppy, but hey, it's an update!
This week has been a little laid back in a way, we had a lot of baptismal interviews. We had two on Thursday and another two on Sunday for the Kwa Magxaki Elders and then another two for us! So, the week has gone kind of fast. This next week is going to go even faster, though. We have two baptisms, zone conference and an exchange! Back to the baptisms, the two interviewed for our area was Brother "X" and Sister Rasi. They are both amazing people and I am excited to see them make the next commitment with their Heavenly Father!
Brother "X"
Literally a missionary's dream. We found him when I first got out here and started teaching him. Now he is getting baptized! He has changed so much and has even fought off an addiction of smoking!
Here is a crazy / funny story about him. We pulled up to his home for a lesson and he was playing music super loud. We could hear it with the windows up in the car! As we listened to what song was playing we heard, "We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet!" He was blasting hymns! So lit! When we went in he told us he was trying to get more familiar with his hymns. That was an experience I won't forget.
Sister Rasi
She is extremely close to having her kid. We actually showed up to a lesson and they told us that we couldn't have the lesson because she wasn't feeling good at all and they were worried that they would have to rush her to the hospital. So that was crazy. She still hasn't had her kid, yet. But, she is very determined to be baptized this week. She said to us "She will figure it out."
I like sharing a spiritual thought so here is a quick one..
John 21:17 - He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Most of us know the story of Jesus coming to his disciples at the sea. His disciples were casting their nets in the sea and caught nothing the entire night. And Jesus appeared on shore telling them to cast their net on the right side of the ship. When they cast their nets that last time it was filled to the point that it filled the boat. Showing us that Jesus can get fish if he wants them. Jesus asked Peter a question that we should all ask ourselves, "Lovest thou me?" Brothers and Sisters, are we putting the things of God first in our life? Would we be willing to sacrifice the things of this world to follow him? If you are willing to put God first, "Feed my sheep." Feed his sheep, that's what he askes us. Serve others, minister, build up his kingdom. I can promise you as you put the things of this world aside, you will come closer to your Heavenly Father. You will feel his presence more in your life.
I hope you all have a good week!
With Love,
Elder Lawrence
1) My first time having pop! Looks like mashed potatoes, But it's not. It's consistency is super thick and you pick it up with your hand and then eat it with the "salad." The green stuff on the plate. It was actually super good! Kind of settles like a brick though. Especially after we just had another dinner appointment right before this one.
2) Sunset on our back deck!
3,4,5,6) Brother "X"s baptismal interview!
