South Africa and Rain... Don't mix
If you ever thought a place wouldn’t shut down because of the rain, you’re wrong!
South Africa shuts down when it rains. If we have lessons and it’s raining, they usually cancel, even when we are the one treading through the mud.. Haha
I will do my best to try and remember to cover the last two weeks! It was a great two weeks. We had a lot of preparation for Lutho and Lutholwethu’s baptisms. It's so amazing to be a part of these wonderful people's lives and help them make commitments with our Heavenly Father! But dang, I was really stressed out getting everything all lined out for their program and trying to get ward support (which didn’t happen), but you know what? I learned something extremely important. It's not about the meeting, it's about the ordinance. That being said, if you know of a baptism that is happening in your ward, YOU SHOULD GO SUPPORT THEM! This is a huge step for them! Be a part of their journey!
I was asked to baptize and confirm both of them! Such a special opportunity to help them with their personal journey in following the Savior.
This week has been alright, nothing crazy has happened. Just us trying to push through all the canceled lessons due to the rain or them just being busy. (It's starting to become summer over here/ People are on break for school). So, it's been a little rough. But it's okay, we are doing our best to push through.
That about it, nothing too crazy. Although one of the highlights of my week has been scaring my comp.. I have been able to hide in a few good spots in our boarding and just pop out and scare him. It's so funny to watch him jump. Haha..
Here is a little spiritual thought.
I have been going through my music to mix up the tunes we normally listen to. I was able to remind myself of a song that I heard before called "Simon of Cyrene". It's a song that really makes me think about how life isn't easy. And sometimes we just have to bear a little weight of the cross that Jesus had to bear. This helps us understand that he really knows exactly what we are going through. In fact, it should help us understand that he knows more of what we are going through than what we do. I invite everyone reading this to go find that song. You can find it on the Sacred Music Library. (I'm sure you could find it on YouTube as well, but I don't have access to that!) I can promise you that as you listen to the words you will be able to learn something powerful.
Also, if you have extra time. Here are some good songs I wish I could listen to now....
"He Looked Up" - - Michael McLean.
"Don't Give Up (You are loved)" - - Josh Groban
"You Raise Me Up" - - Josh Groban
"The Harvester" - - Brandon Heath
"Nobody" - - Casting Crowns
"I Can Only Imagine" - - Mercy Me
"Dry Your Eyes" - - Bonner Family
I hope you all have an amazing week. Don't forget to be yourself!
With Love,
Elder Lawrence
