Be Faithful, Not Faithless
This week has been a little rough. It started off going pretty good! I mean we went to an Elephant park. So, that was pretty amazing! I have already been to Addo, but it was still fun to go again! And this time I wasn't stuck in the middle of the backseat. (Pictures in last weeks e-mail)
This P-day we played laser tag with both zones in our area! We were able to go because we got our social media posts in! Luckily for us we have been staying on top of that! Laser tag was a lot of fun! These last few Mondays have been much needed to get away from our area and relieve some of the daily stress that I feel.
Towards the beginning of the week, I was sick. That was not fun at all. It was a really bad head cold and I had a lot of congestion with a consistent head ache, and the back of my eyes hurt.. But, I pushed forward and kept doing the work. I may have just slept in a few times.... 😂😊 It was much needed, and I feel much better now!
We have had a lot of canceled lessons. Like a bunch, we had eight lessons one day and none of them happened! None of them! That was a very rough day. We even tried to go pull up to the same lessons at a later time to try and catch them but nothing worked to get those lesson to work.
Let's talk about something good that happened this week now. 😂🤣 I talked about Zukile and Siya last week. But this week, they were baptized! I was honored to be able to baptize them both. It has been so amazing to be a part of their journey to Baptism and becoming lifelong disciplines of Jesus Christ. It's crazy amazing how as missionaries we get to see how people change. I can testify that both have changed so much for the better. Their love for our Savior grew so much in the last few weeks it's crazy. It makes me wonder if I am doing my part in making my testimony grow.
Unfortunately for us here in Motherwell, we have been struggling to find new people to teach. We ask our members, go street contacting, door to door contacting, pull up to gray dots and less active members, and even call them as well.. It's so frustrating.. But that is where my weekly subject line comes in, BE FAITHFULL, NOT FAITHLESS. I wish I was the one that came up with that saying. But it is actually a title of a conference talk that I have read recently and it says a lot of good things that I liked and I felt that it tied into my thoughts this week. As we have faith that Heavenly Father is going to help out, that he has prepared people for us to talk to each day, He will.
This can go for many other things as well. As we put the things of God first in our life all other things will fall into place.
Matthew 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
President Ezra Taft Benson
"We must put God in the forefront of everything else in our life's. ...
" When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives. Our love of the Lord will govern the claims for our affection, the demands on our time, the interest we pursue, and the order of our priorities.
"We should put God ahead of every one else in our lives" ("The Great Commandments - Love the Lord." Ensign, May 1988, 4).
I know that as I have more faith, as you have more faith, Heavenly Father will help both of us in our own personal trials. Whatever they may be. He will never leave us hopeless.
This is my testimony and my update for the week. Stay safe, remember why you are here.
With Love,
Elder Lawrence
